The title of this post is my title at my new job that I can't believe I haven't posted about! I have been working at
Wencor in Springville, Utah for just over a week now, and so far it has gone well! I am managing their standard and commercial hardware parts. I mainly price the products all day which involves updating the database of new prices (which I choose at my own discretion) bidding on contracts for the hardware pieces, and finding ways to grow the hardware part of Wencor (which means I help find the sales people opportunities and ways to get customers to purchase with us).
I have learned a lot so far. I am improving, even though it is frustrating not being fully up to speed. It is overwhelming to start from scratch again in learning a business (like I had to do with my internship).
However, my manager and team are great, and everyone is really nice. I think they forget that a lot of what they are saying sounds like a foriegn language to me though because of all the acronyms and specific jargon they use like its no tomorrow. I swear my mind is constantly going a mile a minute to try to decipher and then come up with an adequate response.
They bought me a new way nice Thinkpad laptop which is cool and I am going to get a new chair. I also have a cubicle. I don't like having cubicles. It separates everyone way too much. And gives me too much privacy - it is so much more tempting to text. I have started to decorate my cubicle though, so maybe that will improve it. I brought Viola, my plant, when I realized that she would be fine with such little sunlight (the windows in the building are tiny) and I have a classy board that I am going to put pictures on. My manager told me to decorate because it was making him nervous that I wasn't "moving in". He told me he was afraid I wasn't going to stay! How funny. He is a very nice man.
Today the team went to Tuscanos for lunch. I hear they usually only do that type of thing at Christmas. But we went today and Christmas is coming up! Sweet.
